NAYARA ALTO ATACAMA
TOTAL INTEGRATION
Nayara Alto Atacama seamlessly integrates with its surroundings of red rock in Chile’s Salt Mountains, offering an adobe-style oasis with 42 rooms in the world’s driest desert. (This also makes it one of the clearest places on the planet for stargazing.) The low-rise terracotta property is surrounded by an “Andean Park,” inspired by the natural landscape of the Altiplano, adorned with carob trees, fragrant Rica-Rica bushes, and striking cacti.
Chilean interior designer Enrique Concha envisioned the warm yet minimalist suites, featuring local craftsmanship, desert tones, and spacious terraces overlooking inner gardens (home to resident llamas), the Catarpe Valley, or the Salt Mountain Range.
This intimate resort is located just outside San Pedro de Atacama, providing easy access to desert and mountain activities such as hikes through lunar landscapes, cycling on dunes and caves, exploration of geysers and lagoons, and of course, stargazing (guests can even take astronomy lessons at the private observatory).
The Puri spa, akin to a sanctuary, offers saunas, outdoor mineral baths with valley views, and treatments incorporating local ingredients like coca leaves, murta, and Rica-Rica. Many of these products are also featured at Restaurante Ckelar, where flavors from northern Chile are given a lighter, more nutritious twist using tubers and edible herbs from the Andean Garden, alongside a curated selection of local wines. Guests can also indulge in an outdoor barbecue feast at the quincho amidst the pools, with breathtaking views.
